Discussion, observations and notes about Swimming and Diving in and around Macomb County

WELCOME

Why do we need a Macomb County Swimming and Diving Blog?

With five divisions and 28 teams (in the MAC), it not possible for one person to keep up with the accomplishments of the athletes and the teams in Macomb County.

This brings up an additional point. I would like this blog to cover the teams that compete in Macomb County. Almost all of the Macomb County based swimming and diving teams compete in the MAC. Therefore, we will be covering some Oakland, Wayne and St Clair County teams as well. We also have De La Salle located in Macomb County, so we need to make sure they are included as well.

I am not trying strictly portray Macomb County Swimming and Diving from only my perspective. To that end, I am looking for contributors from all five Divisions and also from DLS. Even better would be a correspondent from each team that would post a recap of the previous weeks meets, outstanding practices or events.

I will also try to include links to sites that cover Macomb County and MAC sports and Athletes.

Enough for now - I have to go prepare milk and cookies for Santa (yes my boys believe in Santa) - note the first post on this Blog was Dec 24th 2007

please note: this blog has been up for over a year now, and I have never had to moderate or delete comments, until now. I will be happy to return to an uncensored forum, when some of the children that have posted recently, learn some manners.

MISCA Boys Dive Info 2009

Coaches,

The top 32 list is set for the MISCA meet Friday at Eastern Michigan University. I received over 60 entries and I've included the top 40. Any alternates will be notified immediately if any of the top 32 divers drop out. For each diver that drops, one alternate will be allowed to fill the vacated spot. The top two alternates will be allowed to warm up at the meet if they choose until all 32 athletes have checked in. The top alternates should e-mail John their dive lists as well.

Dive lists are due by Wednesday at 11:59 p.m. Please e-mail your dive lists (if you haven't already) in an e-dive friendly text format (examples below) to John Pearson at:

example format – follow this exactly—(the "V" designates voluntary/required dives)

"John Dover","Johnson High School",101AV,201AV,303C,103B,403C,401BV,5111AV,203B,301AV,104C,202B

"Peter Grange","Johnson High School",401CV,402C,101CV,103C,302C,301CV,201CV,5121D,5111BV,102B,202C

"John Stubach","Johnson High School",401BV,403B,103BV,203B,303B,5132DV,201BV,5124D,301BV,105B,5223D

-----

Warm-up begins Friday at Eastern of 4:30 p.m.

The check in deadline is 5:00 p.m. (divers not checked in by 5:00 will lose their spot in the meet)

Changes to sheets and/or signatures are due at 5:00 as well. Dive sheets will be provided for you based upon your list submission (whatever list was sent to John Pearson).

The meet will begin at 6:00 p.m. All divers will complete 11 dives.

Estimated time of finish: 9:05 p.m.

-----

DIVE COACHES MUST BE MISCA MEMBERS FOR THEIR DIVERS TO DIVE (swim coach membership is irrelevant). Forms will be available on deck - please bring cash or check to cover this expense if you're currently not a member - It's $55 for a membership purchased on the pool deck.

The entry fee is $4 per athlete; it would be best to pay for your entire team (swimmers and divers) upon check-in Friday. You may just pay for your diver(s) if you so choose and/or if your swim coach just flat out doesn't trust you with such a duty. Divers who drop out or don't show will still be charged the event entrance fee.

-----

I've created tentative judging panels for the meet. Panel A will judge rounds, 1,2,3,7,8, & 9. Panel B will judge rounds 4,5,6,10 & 11 (see top 32 list for judging panel information). If you find yourself on this panel and you really don't want to judge, please let me know. The same goes for you if you really want to judge and I didn't place you on the panel. I tried to create panels that best represent the entire state as a whole both based on geography and regional affiliation.

FYI - I will be making the judges analysis of this meet available after the meet.

There were a considerable amount of late entries that we not permitted to enter the meet. Coaches, please help to educate your colleagues about entry procedures / location of the MISCA website. As to the many recommendations I've received about format and entry procedure, there will be a space available for discussion of this at next year's MISCA clinic in September.

Please direct any questions about this meet to myself and make sure you get your lists sent to John Pearson before Wednesday. Thanks and I look forward to seeing many of you Friday.
